Before there was EVISU there was EVIS. The brand was was founded in 1991 in Osaka, Japan by Hidehiko Yamane. EVIS was no doubt his homage to the Levis legendary BIG "E" 501 having just dropped the L to create the name. Levis accused Yamane of copying their brand and is their wont "pressured" him to change the name. Thus the birth of EVISU.
